Plug the laptop into an external monitor if you can. If the monitor looks fine, the fault is in the laptop's own panel or cable. These are the signs that bring HP laptops to us.
Impact marks, dark patches or a web of lines. Cracks tend to spread, so do not leave it for long.
Fans spin and the power light is on, but the display is blank. An external monitor helps us tell panel from graphics fault.
