Gaming laptops quoted on the gaming battery row. They spend long hours on the charger, which is hard on the pack.
On a consumer HP laptop, HP Support Assistant includes a battery check, and Windows can produce a report with powercfg /batteryreport. These are the signs we see most.
A swollen pack can lift the touchpad or bow the base. Switch off, unplug the charger and do not press on it. Bring it in as soon as you can.
The laptop dies suddenly while the percentage still looks healthy, which usually means the cells have worn out.
Plugged in for hours with no change, or the status reads plugged in, not charging. We test the pack and the charge port to find which part has failed.
HP Support Assistant or Windows reports a weak or failing battery, or the report shows far less capacity than new.
Even light tasks such as email and video calls drain it quickly after you unplug the charger.
