Keys that do nothing, letters that appear twice, or a backlight that has gone out. Before replacing anything we check whether the fault is the keyboard, a spill or the software, then quote you in writing.
Quick answer
An HP laptop keyboard replacement at TechFix costs RM 149 – RM 299+ on our published price list, depending on the model and whether it is backlit. Most jobs take same day to 1-3 days and carry a 90-day warranty. Diagnosis is RM100, waived when you approve the repair.
Students with a valid student ID pay RM80 for laptop diagnosis (student laptop repair)
Plain keyboards and backlit ones sit on separate rows. Pavilion and ProBook have their own row, and gaming laptops have another. Tell us your model and we confirm which one applies, and whether it is a keyboard-only job.
Here are the HP families we work on most. If yours is not listed, WhatsApp the product number and we check before you send it in.
Pavilion 14 / 15, Pavilion Plus 14, Pavilion x360
On many Pavilions the keyboard is part of the top-case assembly, so a keyboard job can mean swapping the whole top case. We confirm that once the laptop is opened.
HP 14, HP 15, HP 15s
Everyday laptops, mostly with non-backlit keyboards. We check how yours is fitted before we quote.
ProBook 440 / 450, EliteBook 840 / 850 / 860
Business laptops, often company-managed. Mention it if yours is, since your IT team may want to know about the repair.
Envy x360 15, Envy 17, Spectre x360 14 / 16
Slim convertibles where the keyboard sits close to the board. We open them with care and quote after we have seen how the keyboard is attached.
Victus 16, Omen 16 / 17
Gaming laptops on the gaming keyboard row. The key layout and backlight style vary, so we match them to your model.
Test the keys in Notepad, or plug in a USB keyboard to see if the problem follows the laptop. These are the signs that usually mean a keyboard repair.
One key or a whole row does nothing. If a USB keyboard works fine, the built-in one is the suspect.
Keys that stay down or feel gummy, often after a drink or sugary crumbs have got underneath.
Switch off and unplug straight away. A spill can reach the board beneath, so the sooner we look, the better.
The keys light unevenly or not at all. Check the backlight key and the setting first, as it may just be switched off.
Letters repeat, or the laptop opens things by itself. A shorted keyboard can cause this, and we check before replacing it.
A popped key cap or a broken hinge under it. Sometimes the cap can be refitted, and sometimes the whole keyboard goes.
Four steps, and the part and price are confirmed with you in writing before we start.
We test each key, rule out software and a faulty connector, and look for any sign of liquid underneath.
We tell you whether it is a keyboard on its own or a top-case swap, and send the quote in writing.
We open the laptop, remove the faulty keyboard, fit the matched one and check the touchpad cable on the way.
We type through every key and the backlight, then hand the laptop back or courier it to you.
Come to the Sunway workshop in opening hours, or courier the laptop from anywhere in Malaysia. Tell us beforehand so we expect it.
