Plain and backlit keyboards sit on separate rows, and Latitude and Inspiron models have a row of their own. Gaming laptops are quoted from the gaming row. On some Inspiron models the keyboard is part of the palmrest assembly, which we confirm after opening the laptop and put in the written quote.

On many Inspirons the keyboard is built into the palmrest assembly, so the fix can mean replacing that whole top section. We confirm it once the laptop is open.

Latitude 3540, Latitude 5540, Latitude 7440, Latitude 9440
On many Latitudes the keyboard is a separate part, which usually keeps the repair smaller. Some have a pointing stick, and we match that too.
XPS 13, XPS 13 Plus, XPS 15, XPS 17
The XPS 13 Plus has a capacitive function row and a glass-flush touchpad, so its top section is handled very differently from a standard keyboard. We assess it before quoting.
Precision 5000 series, Precision 7000 series
Workstation laptops with backlit keyboards and, on some, a numeric pad. We match the layout to your model.
G15, G16
Gaming laptops that take heavy, fast keypresses. They are quoted from the Gaming Laptop Keyboard row.
Test it in the BIOS or the pre-boot diagnostics, or with an on-screen keyboard in Windows. If keys fail everywhere, the hardware is at fault. If they fail only in Windows, we look at drivers first.
One key, a row or a whole block no longer registers, even in the BIOS.
Keys that stay down, feel gummy or return slowly after a spill or years of dust.
Letters repeat, or a key types by itself. A failing keyboard or a damaged ribbon cable can cause this.
The Fn backlight toggle changes nothing, or only part of the keyboard lights up.
Switch off, unplug and bring it in quickly. Liquid left to dry can leave residue behind the keys.
Keys respond in the boot menu but not after login. We test the keyboard before blaming software.
