Business laptops, often with a matte panel. Tell us if a particular finish matters for your work.
Plug in an external monitor if you can. If the picture is perfect there, the laptop's own panel or its cable is at fault, and that is the repair this page covers.
Impact damage rarely stays put. Cracks and ink-like patches tend to grow, so it is worth booking soon.
The power light and fans respond, and an external monitor shows the desktop, but the built-in display stays dark.
Horizontal or vertical bands, or a picture that shimmers, can come from the panel or its cable. We test both.
Taps land in the wrong place or are ignored. On convertibles the digitiser is part of the screen assembly.
If you can just see the desktop under a torch beam, the backlight is gone and the panel needs attention.
Bright dots, dark dots or a tinted corner that spreads over time are signs of a failing panel.
