Acer Spin 3, Acer Spin 5
Convertible 2-in-1 models. They are opened and tested the same way as a regular laptop, with extra care around the hinges.
On many Acer laptops the Acer Care Center app shows battery health. You can also run powercfg /batteryreport in Command Prompt and compare full-charge capacity with design capacity. These are the signs people bring in.
A swollen pack pushes the case apart from inside. Switch the laptop off, unplug it, keep it away from heat and do not press on the bulge.
The meter says 40% and a minute later the screen goes black with no warning.
Windows reports that it is plugged in, yet the level stays put. The pack or the charging circuit may be to blame, so we test both.
