Tenant Provisioning

Microsoft 365 tenant set up and domain verified. SPF/DKIM/DMARC configured. Users pre-provisioned.

Mailbox + Drive Sync

Mailbox and Drive migration, usually run overnight. Parallel mail delivery is set up so both platforms can receive mail.

MX Cutover

Sync is checked as complete, then the MX record is switched to Exchange. Users are pointed to the new webmail address.

Training + Handover

Live training on Outlook, OneDrive and Teams. Handover terms are set in the written scope. Old Google Workspace licences are cancelled only after you confirm everything works.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a Google Workspace → Microsoft 365 migration take?

It depends on user count, mailbox and Drive size and the integrations in use, so we do not quote one number for every company. Small teams can be done quickly; larger organisations are phased in batches. Tenant provisioning and DNS prep come first, mailbox and Drive migration usually runs overnight, and the MX cutover happens in a pre-agreed low-traffic window. You get a schedule in the written plan after the inventory.

What gets migrated? Just Gmail or everything?

We plan for the full workspace: Gmail (with folder/label structure), Google Drive (with folder hierarchy and shared drives), Contacts, Calendars (including shared), Google Meet recordings, and Sites. File permissions are re-mapped to SharePoint/OneDrive. Chat history from Google Chat can be exported to Teams where possible (Google-side API limitations apply).

Will my users lose email during the cutover?

The aim is that no mail is lost. We set up parallel mail delivery during the migration window so both Gmail and Exchange can receive mail. Once mailbox sync is confirmed complete, we switch MX to Exchange and remove the Gmail routing. No process is risk-free, which is why the inventory and a test run come first.

Why migrate from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365?

Common reasons: (1) line-of-business apps (AutoCount, SQL Accounting) integrate better with Outlook; (2) Excel-heavy finance/accounting teams prefer desktop Office; (3) Teams adoption for partnerships with M365-shop clients; (4) Intune MDM for hybrid work policies; (5) Copilot licensing. Not everyone should migrate, and we also help tidy up within Google Workspace. Can you also migrate IN the other direction, M365 to Google Workspace?

Yes. It is less common but we can plan it for creative/design teams and organisations partnering with Google-shop clients: Outlook → Gmail, OneDrive → Drive, Teams → Meet/Chat. The approach is similar: inventory, parallel delivery, then cutover.

What about Google Workspace add-ons and third-party integrations?

We inventory all installed Marketplace add-ons before migration and map each to an M365 equivalent where one exists (e.g. DocuSign, HelloSign, Zapier, Slack). For critical integrations that don't exist on M365, we recommend staying on Google Workspace or adopting a hybrid setup.
