Device Maintenance Contract (AMC) Malaysia

An annual maintenance contract (AMC) puts your company or school laptops, desktops, MacBooks and classroom devices on a scheduled preventive-maintenance cycle, routes breakdowns through one agreed repair process and keeps a device health register you can actually read. Each contract is quoted per fleet after a no-obligation assessment.

  • Preventive maintenance on a schedule, not after a failure
  • One agreed, written approval route for breakdown repairs
  • A device health register with reporting at an agreed cadence

Scope and process

What a device maintenance contract covers

01

Scheduled preventive maintenance

Each contract lists the covered devices, the maintenance tasks for each device type and how often they are visited. Visits are onsite or at the Sunway bench, as the contract sets out.

  • Internal cleaning and dust removal, fan and thermal checks, and thermal paste renewal where a device needs it
  • Battery health and cycle-count checks, with swollen or worn batteries flagged before they fail
  • SSD and storage health checks, plus low free-space warnings
  • Operating-system update and patch status, and endpoint-protection status
  • Physical inspection of hinges, ports, keyboards, trackpads, screens and chargers
  • Findings recorded against each device after every visit

02

Priority breakdown repairs

Faults between visits follow one agreed route instead of a fresh quote hunt every time.

  • Log the fault on the agreed channel; it is triaged remotely first
  • Repairs are quoted and approved in writing, against an approval threshold you set
  • TechFix supplies the parts; customer-supplied parts are not accepted
  • Completed repairs carry TechFix's 90-day warranty
  • Response and turnaround targets are written into the contract, not promised on this page

03

Asset and health register

The register is the contract's working record, and it stays useful for budgeting and audits.

  • Serial number, model, and user or classroom assignment
  • Warranty status, age and physical condition
  • Battery and storage health at each visit
  • Repair history and open issues
  • Refresh recommendations for devices no longer worth repairing

04

Loaners and spare devices

Loaner devices are not included by default.

  • A small spare pool you own can be held in the register and prepared by TechFix
  • Spare devices are priced as devices, not as a promise of uptime
  • Any loaner arrangement applies only once it is written into the contract

05

Devices an AMC can cover

One contract can mix device types across offices and campuses.

  • MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and iMac
  • Windows laptops from Dell, Lenovo, HP, ASUS, Acer and other brands
  • Desktops and all-in-ones
  • Microsoft Surface
  • iPad and Chromebook fleets for schools
  • PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles for gaming and esports venues

06

School device maintenance

Student devices take more wear than office laptops, and downtime lands on lessons and exams.

  • Visits can be scheduled in term breaks or after school hours
  • Student iPad, Chromebook and MacBook batches recorded by class or cohort
  • Battery and keyboard wear tracked before exam season
  • Reports written for the bursar or business manager, not just the IT team

07

How an AMC starts

Five steps from first enquiry to the first fleet report.

  • 1 — Assessment: send your fleet size and device mix; we confirm scope with no obligation
  • 2 — Fleet audit: every device is inspected and entered in the register; faults found are quoted separately before the contract starts
  • 3 — Contract: covered devices, visit schedule, repair approval route, reporting and exclusions in writing
  • 4 — Schedule: preventive visits booked around your working hours or school terms
  • 5 — Report: a fleet health report at the agreed cadence, such as quarterly, with repair and refresh recommendations

08

How contract pricing works

There is no published per-device AMC rate. Each contract is quoted per fleet after the assessment.

  • The quote depends on device count and mix, visit frequency, locations and what is included
  • Parts, replacement batteries and screens are quoted and approved before any work starts
  • If your staff also need a helpdesk, Managed IT is priced per user: RM99 (Support), RM149 (Managed) or RM199 (Managed Plus) per user per month
  • Managed IT onboarding is RM100 per device, minimum RM2,500, one time
  • One-off repairs outside a contract: Diagnosis is RM100–150, waived in full when you approve the repair.

AMC vs pay-per-repair vs managed IT

Three ways to keep company devices working. The right one depends on whether you mainly need hardware kept healthy, occasional fixes, or a whole outsourced IT function.

Scope boundaries before a contract is quoted

Assessment confirms compatibility, delivery ownership, timing, dependencies and price.

  • • Hardware, parts, licences, travel and third-party charges are quoted separately unless the proposal says otherwise.
  • • Dates, compatibility, downtime and response targets are confirmed only after assessment.
  • • TechFix supplies repair parts and does not accept customer-supplied repair parts.
  • • TechFix does not provide deleted-file data recovery.
  • • No per-device AMC price, uptime percentage or response time is published; each is set in the written contract.
  • • Servers, network equipment and mobile phones are outside a standard device AMC unless the contract names them.
  • • Liquid damage, drops and other physical damage are repaired on quotation, not covered by maintenance.
  • • Faults under an active manufacturer warranty are flagged in the register so the manufacturer route can be used first.

Device maintenance contract FAQs

What is an annual maintenance contract (AMC) for laptops and computers?

An AMC is a written agreement to maintain a defined set of devices for a term, usually a year. It covers scheduled preventive maintenance, an agreed route for breakdown repairs and a register of each device's health, so problems are found in a maintenance visit rather than on a deadline day.

How much does a device maintenance contract cost in Malaysia?

TechFix does not publish a per-device AMC rate. Each contract is quoted per fleet after a no-obligation assessment, based on device count and mix, visit frequency, locations and inclusions. For reference, Managed IT is priced at RM99 (Support), RM149 (Managed) or RM199 (Managed Plus) per user per month, and for one-off repairs outside a contract: Diagnosis is RM100–150, waived in full when you approve the repair.

Are parts and repairs included in the contract?

Maintenance tasks are included. Parts and repairs are quoted and approved in writing before work starts, against the approval threshold you set, and completed repairs carry TechFix's 90-day warranty.

Do we get a loaner while a device is being repaired?

Not by default. If continuity matters, the practical answer is a small spare pool you own, held in the register and prepared by TechFix, priced as devices rather than as a promise. Any loaner arrangement is written into the contract.

What response time do you commit to?

Response and turnaround targets are agreed per contract after the assessment, because they depend on device mix, locations and visit schedule. This page does not promise a universal response time.

Can you maintain school iPads, Chromebooks and MacBooks?

Yes. School fleets can be recorded by class or cohort, and preventive visits can be scheduled in term breaks or after school hours so lessons are not interrupted.

What is the difference between an AMC and managed IT?

An AMC looks after the hardware: maintenance, repairs and the device register. Managed IT adds a staff helpdesk, account and joiner-leaver support and broader IT ownership, priced per user. An AMC can also be a first step before managed IT.

What happens at the first visit?

A fleet audit. Every device is inspected and entered in the register with its condition, battery and storage health. Faults found at the audit are quoted separately so the contract starts from a known baseline.
