Can you fix individual keys on a Surface keyboard?

For Surface Pro Type Covers, individual keycaps and scissor mechanisms can sometimes be replaced. For Surface Laptop and Book models, the keyboard is integrated into the top case, so individual key repair depends on the damage. What is the difference between a Type Cover and a built-in keyboard?

Surface Pro, Pro X, and Go models use a detachable Type Cover that connects via magnetic pogo pins. Surface Laptop and Book models have a built-in keyboard integrated into the chassis. Type Cover issues are typically connector-related and cheaper to fix (from RM150). Built-in keyboard repairs require partial disassembly and cost more (from RM300).

How long does Surface keyboard repair take?

Type Cover connector cleaning or pin repair takes 1-2 hours. Full Type Cover replacement is same-day. Surface Laptop keyboard repair takes 3-5 hours due to the disassembly required. Most repairs are completed same-day if parts are in stock.

Is the Alcantara fabric on my Type Cover replaceable?

We offer professional Alcantara cleaning and restoration for RM80 — this removes stains, oil marks, and restores the fabric texture. If the fabric is heavily damaged or torn, a full Type Cover replacement (RM250-RM450 depending on model) is the better option. The newer non-Alcantara Type Covers are also available as replacements.

Do you repair Surface Go and Surface Pro X keyboards?

Yes. The Surface Go uses its own smaller Type Cover, and the Surface Pro X uses the same Type Cover as the Pro 8/9. We repair and replace Type Covers for all Surface models including Go 1-4 and Pro X. Pricing is the same as standard Type Cover repair from RM150.
