Outer Glass Only

On pre-2012 iMacs the outer glass is held by magnets and can be removed without damaging the LCD underneath. If only the glass is cracked and the LCD is perfect, we can replace glass alone — saving significant cost.

Fused Display Assembly

Can iMac glass be replaced without replacing the LCD?

On older pre-2012 iMacs, the outer glass panel is magnetically attached and can often be replaced separately from the LCD. However, on all iMacs from 2012 onwards, Apple fused the glass and LCD into a single display assembly. This means if the glass is cracked, the entire panel assembly must be replaced — you cannot replace glass only on modern Retina iMacs.

Do you replace Retina displays on 5K iMac?

Yes, we replace Retina 5K displays on the 27" iMac (2014-2020). These are premium display assemblies and the replacement starts from RM1,400. We use high-quality panels that preserve the full 5K resolution, P3 wide colour gamut, and True Tone capability where applicable. All 5K replacements include 3 Months - 1 Year Warranty.

Is iMac screen glued or magnetic?

It depends on the year. Pre-2012 iMacs use magnetic glass panels held in place by magnets around the bezel — these can be removed without heat tools. From 2012 onwards, Apple switched to adhesive tape to seal the display to the chassis. This adhesive mounting is why iMac screen replacement requires specialised heating equipment and should never be attempted as DIY.

What causes iMac screen flickering?

iMac screen flickering has several causes. On Intel iMacs (2012-2020), common causes include a GPU fault, T-CON fault, damaged display cable, or failing backlight. On 24" M1/M3/M4 models, display cable, panel, or firmware issues are more common. We diagnose the cause before quoting a replacement.

Can you fix a cracked 24-inch Apple silicon iMac screen?
